Since   its   inception   in   1964,   the   Gate   of   Heaven CYO   has   been   a   community   based   organization   to benefit    the    children    of    South    Boston    with    a mission   of   providing   a   positive,   athletic,   social   and spiritual   alternative   to   youth   is   achieved   through our popular basketball program. Gatey   CYO   is   a   great   way   to   introduce   your   kids   to new   friends   –   and   to   have   them   active   in   a   safe and    fun    environment.     We    have    programs    for boys    and    girls,    as    early    as    first    grade,    and    up through   high   school.    Kids   play   at   all   levels   from basic   instructional   teams   to   advanced   high   school travel   teams.    Many   of   our   kids   have   been   in   the program   every   year   since   they   were   young   –   and want     to     come     back     year     after      year.      As     a testament     to     the     richness     of     our     basketball program,   many   of   our   coaches   played   for   Gatey CYO    themselves,    and    want    to    inspire    the    next generation   to   learn   the   valuable   skills   and   have the   opportunity   to   make   the   lifelong   friendships they found here.

In 1970 under the tutelage of Father White the Gate of Heaven C.Y.O. basketball program started. From its original beginning of 4 teams for boys 12 years of age and younger, with 1 commissioner it has grown to its present day size of:
